Since on of the more important holidays for me is coming up soon I'd like to think about what I am blessed with.
I am blessed with a wonderful son whom I love dearly. I feel my heart lighten every time I look upon him and nothing is more precious than his happiness.
I am blessed with a stubborn man. He keeps me on my toes and challenge me daily. Ours is not an easy love, but it is a great love. It is all the greater because he gives me what is right, never what is easy.
I am blessed with close kin. Blood is thicker than water they say and when it comes to my family that rings true. Never will I know loneliness as long as bonds stay true.
I am blessed with true friends. Blood may be thicker than water, but blood cannot be without water. True friends are true blessings and something to cherish. I am sad to say that I have not always honoured and nurtured the bonds of friendship as I should have, shame on me and not on them. Blessed I am nonetheless.
I am blessed with wealth. I may not have as much as others, but I have enough to put food on the table each day and clothes on the backs of my family. I have enough to never know hunger nor cold. I have enough to live in comfort. That is as much as anyone could hope for and more is an indulgence.
I am blessed with peace. Starting this All Hallows I know we can keep all of my kin safe, long gone are the truly horrifying years of uncertainty and fear. Life is not perfect, peace for my in-laws would be the final piece of the tapestry but they are resiliant and crafty. Finally my little sister, my fosterchild has been given reprieve and that most of all feels like the truest blessing of them all. She will never fear deportation ever again.
